6 Bridges Gallery is pleased to present “Alaska in Two Weeks” – photos of Alaska from a tourist’s viewpoint, on view February 26 – April 6, 2019. An artist reception will be held on Saturday, March 23, 7-9 pm.
Alaska is a huge state, 2-1/2 times the area of Texas and 63 times the size of Massachusetts. This explains why commercial tours on both water and land are such a popular way to get a taste of this unique and rugged region. Ernest Stonebraker and his wife Sherryl took a land and sea cruise of our 49th state with Holland America, and were rewarded with spectacular views of mountains, glaciers and wildlife as well as the opportunity to speak with indigenous people. While some parts of the tour were so choreographed that Disney might have organized them, the brief tour yielded spectacular landscapes and more intimate close-up views.
