Remnants of the Past:  Judith Stein

In this exhibit, Judith’s work reflects her exploration of collage and the unlimited ways of integrating paper and paint. Works in this exhibit range from pure collage to multi-layered oil paintings that incorporate fragments of her father’s WWII letters and photographs. The textures and forms created by the collage pieces add to the intrigue, subtlety, and complexity of each composition. These collages are also a tribute to her parents and in-laws as they coped with, and survived WWII. Each work conveys the painful separation, fragmentation, fear, and horrors of war as well as the love, hope, and resilience that helped her family survive.
