Call for Artists: Artifacts

Call Description

6 Bridges Gallery invites artists to submit work for Artifacts, a juried exhibition exploring the marks, remnants, and meaningful objects that shape our understanding of the world.

We are seeking artwork that uncovers the traces of what remains; the hidden histories, personal relics, and quiet evidence of lives lived. Artists are encouraged to reflect on what we carry forward, whether physical, emotional, cultural, or imagined, and how these “artifacts” reveal the stories and connections that endure over time.

All interpretations and mediums, excluding video and AI-generated art, are accepted and welcome.

The Juror

The exhibit will be juried by Claudia Fiks, an independent curator and arts administrator with over 20 years of experience supporting artists and shaping exhibition programs across the Boston area and beyond. She is the Founder and Director of TAG | The Art Gallery at the New England Art Center (NEAC) in Boston’s SoWa Art & Design District, where she curates monthly exhibitions and creates opportunities for artists to exhibit, connect with collectors, and expand their professional visibility.

Claudia’s curatorial approach is driven by a strong commitment to artist development and thoughtful dialogue between artwork and audience. She is particularly interested in work that demonstrates clarity of intention, conceptual depth, and a compelling visual language, regardless of medium or career stage.

In addition to her gallery work, Claudia serves as Director of Newton Open Studios, one of the region’s largest art events, and is a contributor to Artscope Magazine, where she writes about contemporary art and serves as a tour guide at major art fairs including Art Basel, The Armory Show, and international Biennales.

As a juror, Claudia values authenticity, risk-taking, and the ability of a work to communicate beyond the surface. She sees the selection process not only as an evaluation, but as an opportunity to discover artists whose work resonates, challenges, and stays with the viewer.
