I started making hats because I wanted things that I couldn’t buy in stores, things that were uncommon. That was the beginning. Then I wanted stylized hats on other people too, so they could enjoy wearing a personal statement.
My beloved grandfather liked relish on his hotdogs and fedoras on his head, so I did, too. I started collecting hats when I was about nine or ten years old, and have been a lifelong wearer of hats. It was when my dad got dressed up to go to an event that I saw the real power of the hat. Sure, he looked nice when he put his suit on, but when he took his hat out of its box and placed it on his head, he became important. It was at that moment that I realized that with an item as simple as a hat you could completely change the message that you were sending out to the world about yourself.
