The preparation of good food is merely another expression of art,
one of the joys of civilized living
—Dione Lucas
Food is an important part of everyday life, impacting our lives in ways we often don’t consider. Food is how we survive as humans. It varies from culture to culture, distinctively shaping each and every community. Food travels the world, exposing one community to another, all through the experience of sharing meals.
Art can be experienced in many ways; Julie L’Heureux believes art can be experienced through food. Its daily role in our lives and its deep, far-reaching cultural history touches each and every one of us. Through this exhibit, L’Heureux shares her connection between food and art. L’Heureux’s influences include Georgia O’Keefe, photographers Irving Penn and Don Giannatti, and the Dutch masters. Many of L’Heureux’s photos have been described as “painterly.”
In addition to her fine art photography, L’Heureux offers portrait and commercial photography through her business, Sunlight Photography. Her studio is located at ArtSpace Maynard. She attended the New York Institute of Photography, Sessions College, and has studied with many teachers and completed numerous photography workshops. She is a member of 6 Bridges Gallery, Nashoba Valley Photo Club in Westford and Professional Photographers of Massachusetts.
