6 Bridges Gallery is pleased to present “Associations” – Works by the Associate Members of 6 Bridges Gallery, January 29 – February 23, 2019. There will be an artist reception on February 9, 7:00–9:00pm. Exhibiting artists include: Emilie Astell, Jean D’Amico, Linda DeStefano Brown, Lily Chen, Véronique Latimer, Sue Kim Lucchini, Natalie MacKnight, Kara Patrowicz, Denise Shea and Judith Stein.
The term “association” is often defined as “the process of forming mental connections or bonds between sensations, ideas or memories”. In “Associations,” the Associate Members of 6 Bridges Gallery examine this theme through a variety of media, including photography, painting, ceramics, fibers and more.
Common threads include the experience of time and memory in the artistic process, where past, present and future can intermingle to create new realities in the resulting work. Other pieces explore the experience of presence and absence, the known and unknown in human relationships and in our journeys through life. Nature’s interconnections are another inspiration, particularly the energy and movement inherent in many natural elements.
There are many exciting affinities and contrasts amongst the works on display, which reflect these artists’ nuanced and multi-faceted understanding of the “associations” theme.
